Biography
Sarah Hyland is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Sarah is the youngest of three children and the only girl in the Hyland family. Sarah was “destined” to seek a career that was to be “down a road less traveled”. Her first words as a young toddler were “I’ll do it myself!” And she has done just that!
Sarah’s “artistic tendencies” first surfaced during her junior year in high school. She won numerous awards in the area of visual arts. Her outstanding work in both painting and sculpture, earned her admission to the renowned Art Institute of Chicago School of Art.
While in school in Chicago, Sarah began to pursue her “secret passion” to pursue a career in the area of the performing arts. She enrolled in the famous Second City Improvisation School where she began to hone her skills in the area of comedic improvisation. After four years in Chicago, Sarah moved to LA to become part of the Conservatory Program with Second City of LA. She spent eight months with Second City in Los Angeles before heading out on her own.
Sarah has become an accomplished stand-up comedian who has performed at numerous venues in the LA area, as well as, other parts of the country. She performs weekly at the famous Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd. She recently performed at The Palms in Las Vegas, and has done shows on college campuses across the country. This past December, Sarah hosted and performed at the Comedy Caravan in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Sarah has been on the cast of MTV’s “Punked” and has recently been selected as a cast member on an NBC pilot to be called “Comedy Coliseum”. She has appeared on several episodes of Fox’s popular show “Mad TV”. Most recently, Sarah was selected to be on the cast of a new show on the Oxygen Channel to be called “She-larious”. The show is slated to begin filming in May of 2007.
Sarah’s favorite comedy venue is her own “one women show” whereby she transforms herself into a series of colorful and hilarious characters based on actual people in Sarah’s life. Sarah has performed the “One Woman Show” at several local theaters in the LA/Hollywood area and has plans to continue to develop this aspect of her comedic career.
Sarah Hyland is a unique young comedian whose dewy good looks make her “stand out from the crowd”. In reviewing her “One Woman Show”, Barry Garron from the Hollywood Reporter, had this to say about Sarah.
